Just Out - Fish and Fisheries Paper
Good governance and management - good fisheries - healthy ecosystems
A comparative study by the Human Dimensions Task Group of the global IndiSeas Programme supports the widespread impression that good ecosystem-based management and governance, sustainable fisheries and healthy ecosystems go together.
The authors caution that comparative indicators necessarily lose some detail, and it would be a mistake to assume that all is good with high ranking systems, and all is wrong with low ranking systems. They emphasise the need to consider more nuances for management in each system, using the mid-ranking southern Benguela as an example.
