UCT-MARiS draws together a network of researchers at UCT and beyond to engage with the three inter-related science foci: Antarctic and Southern Ocean Research, Marine Research on the southern African margin, and Innovation in Chemical, Materials and Observational Engineering. MARiS aims to produce knowledge and human capacity in marine and polar research.
Our researchers currently represent different departments at the University of Cape Town, involving the Biological Sciences, Oceanography, Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering Departments. Individual and Institutional membership involves both recognized research groupings, academic departments and other university entities whose area of work intersects strongly with MARiS, and who have a history of active membership of MARiS.
