Below the media release from SANCOR/DAFF. Organisers are clearly encouraging students to apply.

This year the Aquaculture Association of Southern Africa (AASA) and the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries, in collaboration with the University of Limpopo, the Limpopo Provincial Department of Agriculture, and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO), will be holding a bi- annual meeting at the Ranch Hotel in Limpopo, South Africa from 27thSeptember to 2nd October 2015.  The theme for this year’s conference is AQUACULTURE:  SHAPING THE FUTURE.

It is with great excitement that I remind you of the upcoming conference and encourage your participation. It is worth reminding you that this years conference will have specific focus on the student participation with a dedicated student function and student accommodation. Don’t miss the 31 July deadline for abstracts and early bird registration and 14 August for abstract submission.

The Ranch Hotel is a 25km drive south of Polokwane and a 280km drive north of Johannesburg. Student accommodation, which includes breakfasts will be offered at the reduced rate of R375pn and there will be transport available to and from OR Tambo for only R250 per delegate. Early bird student registration (31 July 2015) costs only R1650 for non-members and includes; conference lunches with ‘themed’ dinners each evening (Sunday – Wednesday), a welcome package and 3 days of nail biting aquaculture research being presented.

The student village is appropriately situated adjacent to a lion enclosure and just a 10min walk from the main conference venue with shuttles available. The accommodation is unlike anything you may find in the city, with large canvas cabins hidden under a clear night sky. The sounds of the bush will be a unique addition to the Village life, with an open-shed dining hall providing an intimate setting for breakfasts (provided).
